The official Sri Lanka School Calendar 2027, which includes the dates and holidays for government schools, government-approved private schools, and approved Pirivenas, was released by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education.
Circular No. 31/2026 states that for the 2027 academic year, separate term schedules for Sinhala, Tamil, and Muslim schools have been announced.
The 2027 school year for Sinhala and Tamil schools will start on Monday, January 4, 2027. The third term will conclude on Friday, December 3, 2027, with school vacation periods following the first and second terms.

Tamil and Sinhala School Holidays
Schools will be closed from April 10 to April 25, 2027, following the first term. After the second term, there will be a vacation from July 31 to August 29, 2027.
